UCSD services for Qualcomm Premier Plan members
The primary network for Qualcomm Premier Plans comprises Scripps and its affiliated providers. In addition, Scripps has contracted with UCSD for select services.
If you are planning to receive care from a UCSD provider, please contact the Scripps concierge team to verify in-network (INN) and out-of-network (OON) providers and services.
Please note that not all UCSD providers are included in the Premier Plan network. Also, UCSD providers are not included in the Premier Plan Provider Directory.
In order for services delivered at UCSD or by a UCSD provider to be considered INN, both the service and the treating UCSD physician must be INN. Otherwise, services will be administered at the OON coverage level. These network restrictions ensure that Qualcomm Premier Plan members receive a high value product when seeking health care.

Examples of UCSD Premier Plan coverage:
- Perinatology is covered as in-network when provided by an in-network UCSD perinatologist. But ancillary or associated services, like ultrasounds, are covered as out-of-network when provided by UCSD. Such ancillary or associated services must be provided by an in-network Premier Plan provider in order to receive in-network benefits.
- Newborn nursery is considered INN, under the condition the same episode of care includes at least one day of NICU admission.
- An orthopedic oncology procedure is covered as in-network when provided by an in-network UCSD orthopedic oncologist. If the member subsequently requires care from a cardiologist, such care would be covered as out-of-network if received from UCSD.
- Emergency services received at UCSD are covered as in-network. But any follow-up care, such as suture removal, is covered as in-network only when provided by a Premier Plans in-network provider. UCSD is not considered in-network for such services.
INN services are administered at the member in-network coverage level. OON services are administered at the out-of-network coverage level. |
